Southwell is the venue for the placepot this evening
"Spic 'N Span and Bookiesindex Boy are both tricky customers but can generally be trused to give their running over five furlongs at Southwell"
Southwell's evening meeting is the target for today's placepot.
18:00 - Castle Myth's Southwell record is so good that it's hard to leave him out even if he is returning from time off for a new yard (for whom he's had a couple of runs over hurdles). Think It's All Over is a slightly different proposition in that he's never tackled the surface, but everything about him suggests it'll suit, so he's the second selection.
18:30 - Pint Size stands out on form in the seller and has already proved himself adept under the conditions, so he's banker material in the second leg with question marks over the rest.
19:00 - Amtired took a while to click but has shown improvement since switched to fibresand, and a likely strong pace will suit his come-from-behind style tonight. King Columbo has dropped in the weights recently and is related to fibresand winners, so he's the second choice in the mile handicap.
19:30 - You shouldn't go far wrong if siding with Quails Hollow and Cluain Dara in the mile-and-a-half maiden. The former has the best form and is open to more improvement, while the latter looks the just the type of Mark Johnston horse that will take to this unique surface.
20:00 - Another banker in the penultimate leg. There's a case for saying it's a match between the pair at the head of the betting, and of the two, Captain Bellamy is far more likely to be suited by the step up in trip.
20:30 - Spic 'N Span and Bookiesindex Boy are both tricky customers but can generally be trused to give their running over five furlongs at Southwell, so they make more appeal than the remainder, at least for placepot purposes!

The only Flat meeting in Britain today is at Redcar, and it is the venue for today's placepot......
The Super Sprint, with 25 runners and just three places up for grabs, makes Newbury an unattractive proposition for placepot purposes, but it's the four-runner conditions event, where they would all have to go on the ticket, that confirms it as a no-go. Over to Newmarket it is then......
