AP McCoy rides two of today's selections

"Timeform top-rated Spot The Ball, who has finished in the first two on each of his last five starts, remains less exposed than most in the race..."

Field sizes at Ffos Las today look conducive to a placepot and Timeform's Adam Brookes brings you his permutation...

13:30 - The opening novice hurdle is a no brainer. Ohio Gold (respectable effort in handicap last time and ridden by top conditional) and Jumps Road (improved when landing course win in December and stiff task in Grade 2 last time) both hail from the Colin Tizzard yard that sent out five winners yesterday, and it's inconceivable that neither will place.

14:00 - Benheir is sure to feature in many lists with Tony McCoy booked but the form his win on his first start for Rebecca Curtis leaves him with a bit to find with some of his rivals, including Loose Chips, who improved for the fitting of cheekpieces on his latest outing. Kilmacowen is another open to progression and will find the step back from three miles much more to his liking.

14:30 - Those looking for a speculative one at a price could do worse than chase debutant Flying Award, but for placepot purposes it looks safer to stick with Spot The Ball and the champion jockey. Timeform top-rated Spot The Ball, who has finished in the first two on each of his last five starts, remains less exposed than most in the race and wasn't at all disgraced returned to fences at Towcester last time.

15:00 - As mentioned previously, the Tizzard yard are firing on all cylinders at the moment which makes Douryna, who was back to her best for today's rider at Hereford on her most recent run, very interesting. However, her tendency to make mistakes means she can't go in alone and so the generally-consistent Rimini (one from one under Richard Johnson) should prove adequate backup.

15:35 - Derwyn Pride and Cross The Flags head the Timeform figures and, as the only two in the field still open to further improvement, are the two to concentrate on. If we've got this far it would be a shame to go out trying to be clever so including both should ensure we progress, with a strong chance of doubling up.

16:10 - Ending with a hunter chase is never ideal but the market usually speaks volumes and the race looks to rest with last year's winner Seracina and Teddys Reflection. The latter, an Ascot novices' handicap chase winner in November 2010, is marginally preferred having his first start for the in-form Ian Williams yard having left Henrietta Knight and, although in the last leg I said it would be a big mistake to take chances at this stage in the game, he has enough going for him to make him a second banker.

Selections:

13:30 - 1, 2
14:00 - 2, 5
14:30 - 8
15:00 - 5, 8
15:35 - 2, 9
16:10 - 4
