"Mill Pegasus appears well suited to a trap one draw and has the momentum to upset more recognised rivals."

It's the Scottish Derby final tonight - here are Darrell Williams' exclusive selections

22:15 Scottish Derby Final
T1 Mill Pegasus
Has improved throughout the event, producing an excellent run to claim semi-final success. Strong runner who appears well suited to a trap one draw and has the momentum to upset more recognised rivals.

T2 Barefoot Allstar
Yet to win in the event and twice behind Mill Pegasus. An early lead appears vital as he's not quite been seeing out the trip, but Ireland's Paul Hennessy has won this event twice and is sure to have him spot on.

T3 Mill Bling Bling
The big race king last season producing the performances when it mattered to claim three major prizes. Has run well enough in this event without quite looking in the same form, but may be sharpened up by the week off. Not one to write off too quickly. but unlikely to enjoy an easy lead.

T4 Tudor Prince
Finally gained a verdict over old rival Mill Bling Bling in the second round having chased him home in three Category One finals last year. Trapping has been appreciably better of late and yet another with realistic claims.

T5 Droopys Christian
Has a bit to find with the principals, but has more local form than his rivals (two wins from five starts). Trap five unlikely to prove a hindrance.

T6 Bowtime Sykes
One of the strongest in the field as he proved with a last gasp success in the semi-final and open to further improvement as the least experienced in the field. Could tempt value seekers.

Verdict
A truly wide-open final, but no dog has improved more throughout the event than Mill Pegasus and this may be his moment to come of age, with his stamina likely to prove a big factor against front-runners Barefoot Allstar and Mill Bling Bling. The latter can never be totally written off despite not quite being in the same form as last year. There would be no more deserving winner than Tudor Prince, whose improved trapping has enhanced his own chances.

20:10 Stayers
A race consisting almost entirely of local four bend handicappers (A1 Newcastle regular Witton Ace being the odd man out), but with little form over this trip, plenty of guess work is required. Puppy Moorcroft Maggie gets the most tentative of calls.

20:30 Standard
Lightly raced Lanrigg Paddy ran well in the Derby after a lengthy layoff, before his elimination in the second round and remains open to further improvement. He can prove too good for these at the expense of strong running Grayslands Bubba.

20:45 Puppy
Unbeaten Farloe Warhawk will need to improve on his trial but looks a top class prospect and the most likely winner. Value hunters might consider Greenwell Thor whose trial form makes him a viable alternative.

21:05 Sprint final
You Mind Me is top class on his day, but is prone to more than the occasional reverse at short odds and better value might lie in five-time chasing Jumeirah Dubai, the fastest heat winner. There are few more consistent sprinters over this CD than Lampard

21:20 500m final
Mags Gamble has been in top form all year and can confirm the promise of an excellent heat win by turning over useful Blue Artisan who has not looked at his best so far this term.

21:40 Stayers final
Defending champ Anfi Gem is unbeaten in three starts over this CD and should again take all beating from a favoured trap one berth. Lonely Boy has won only once in eight starts this season and would prefer a draw nearer the fence.

21:55 480m Invitation
Mill Maximus rates the percentage call provided he can poach an early lead and avoid middle moving Killieford Blaze. Liosgarbh Champ ran well behind useful sorts throughout the Derby and rates a serious danger.

Recommended Bets
Mags Gamble 21:20
Anfi Gem 21:40
Mill Pegasus 22:15
Lanrigg Paddy 20:30
Jumeirah Dubai 21:05
