"The title is surely destined for United after Old Trafford were treated to the Wayne Rooney show for the first time in a long time. "

In-running drama aplenty as leading teams all win - but find very different ways to do it

A titanic night at the top of the table ended in wins for Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea - but only one of them did it the easy way. Meanwhile, a 2-2 draw did little for either West Brom or Wigan at the other end of the league.

The title is surely destined for United after Old Trafford were treated to the Wayne Rooney show for the first time in a long time. The England star scored in the first minute and on the cusp of halftime to make it easy for United who are now [1.69] to end up top of the pile. Darren Bent retaliated for Aston Villa, but a Nemanja Vidic rocket put the home team back in the comfort zone.

The Reds' pursuers in the title race - Arsenal and Chelsea - both went behind in their fixtures but came back to keep themselves just about in touch with the leaders.

Sunderland scored early on at the Stadium of Light but that only seemed to wind Chelsea up. The champions struck back to take a 2-1 lead only to be pegged back again. It stayed that way until the second half when the Blues were able to pull away thanks to John Terry and a late Nicolas Anelka effort, the 4-2 final score traded at [120.0].

At the Emirates, Arsenal went behind to an early Louis Saha effort and laboured in their attempts to overhaul the Toffees, having to wait until the 70th minute for an equaliser and the 75th for a winner. The Gunners traded at [8.0] for the win and are [4.3] for the title.

There was yet more drama at the Hawthorns where West Brom touched [1.28] when taking an early lead only to concede twice to Wigan, who were matched at [1.4]. Of course it couldn't end that way and the draw was backed at [6.6] before the Baggies scored a late goal of their own.
