Lingfield's polytrack

"Beaubrav arrives at the top of his game and he seems to save his best efforts for this track."

Today's placepot comes from Lingfield, which stages the highlight meeting of the all-weather season.

14.00 - Progressive mare Anne of Kiev was only a neck behind Waveband in the Cleeve Stakes here last month and should be able to turn the tables with that rival now that she's 3 lb better off at the weights. Five Star Junior finished down the field in the same race that day, but he shaped better than the bare result and is an outsider worth including with Holland taking over from an apprentice.

14.35 - A bit of guesswork is involved given that the first three in the betting have yet to race on all-weather and all bar Bathwick Bear are making their reappearance. The progressive Oceanway is proven under the conditions and hails from a yard that are well forward considering the time of year. Dubawi Gold was a bit hit-and-miss as a juvenile, but he's useful on his day and may have more Improvement in him on his first start for Richard Hannon.

15.10 - The highlight of the all-weather campaign, but it looks a below-par renewal in terms of depth. Dansili Dancer looked better than ever when winning at Kempton last time and the drop back in trip is unlikely to be a problem. It's also hard not to see Pachattack having a big say given that she's proven under the conditions and has been running well at a higher level than this.

15.40 - I firmly believe that Azamour will develop into a top sire in time and Musawama should provide him with another winner here, as he very much sets the standard in a maiden which appears to lack any strength in depth.

16.15 - Whistle on By stepped up on his juvenile form when fourth in a maiden at Deauvile earlier this month and should be suited by the step up in trip. With just the seven runners, the well-bred newcomer Prime Mover is probably worth including also, and he wouldn't have to be anything special to make an impact in what looks another weak maiden.

16.45 - Beaubrav arrives at the top of his game and he seems to save his best efforts for this track. Realisation may have reached his peak, but he continues to hold his form admirably and should be in the thick of things once again.

Only 24 hours until Lingfield is back where it belongs, on the centre stage of British racing, and hopefully today's placepot can boost funds ahead of the exciting Winter Derby card....

A tricky decision as to which meeting to choose for today's Placepot as small fields abound, but eventually the brain suggests Chepstow, where we can take on a couple of vulnerable favourites and bank on an improving young horse....

Following yesterday's placepot success on Kempton's National Hunt course, we can hopefully continue in the same vein back over on the all-weather track this evening......
