Little Jimmy Odsox is Sunday's major fancy at Redcar

"...there must be a chance Little Jimmy Odsox has been let in lightly into handicaps off a mark of 67.."

Adam Brookes kept his dignity intact to provide an early wages day yesterday as his nap Deacon Blues quickened clear in Newbury's Group 3 Shadwell Stakes. Sunday's action is a bit more low-key, but that shouldn't stop you from getting stuck into these three selections.

The fabulously-named Broctune Papa Gio (14.35) can gain a second win at Redcar. It's taken a while for everything to click with the four-year-old but he broke his duck in good style in a mile handicap at the track last month and should appreciate today's extra furlong. There's plenty of rain about in the north, but Redcar are still reporting ground on the faster side of good, which, if it stays that way, will suit Keith Reveley's charge.

Tim Easterby was among the winners again yesterday and can score at Redcar with Little Jimmy Odsox (15.05), who made a perfect start at Doncaster last month. There was plenty to like about his success, overcoming a slow start and staying on well to prevail by a neck. The second home that day, My Own Way Home, has since returned to Town Moor to gain her first victory, and there must be a chance Little Jimmy Odsox has been let in lightly into handicaps off a mark of 67.

It was reported this week that many of the stars of Ditcheat have arrived back at Paul Nicholls' yard from their holidays and before you know it the National Hunt season will be upon us. While the likes of Big Buck's and Denman have been enjoying life in a field, the Nicholls stable has had another profitable summer with those kept in training. Bermuda Boy (16.00) was one of those winners back on his handicap debut over hurdles in May and the six-year-old looks set to notch up another success, this time over fences, at Newton Abbot. He made a highly encouraging start to chasing when going down by a head to the promising Al Qeddaaf over course and distance last month, jumping well, and can put his experience to good use against four going over the larger obstacles for the first time.
