Mark Johnston: Runs Mungo Park at Hamilton
"Mungo Park is a big, unfurnished colt who was always likely to make up into a middle-distance three-year-old."
Three bets for Thursday from Timeform's Free Form Site...
Mungo Park is a member of this year's Timeform Horses to Follow, and there were definite concerns that he would be one of those in the minority that sink without trace after not being seen out until last week. In the event, those fears were allayed with a promising third in a 10-furlong maiden at Warwick and Mungo Park looks to have been found an ideal opportunity to open his account at Hamilton (15:05). Mungo Park is a big, unfurnished colt who was always likely to make up into a middle-distance three-year-old, so it's encouraging that he shaped with such definite promise in two maidens in 2010. His reappearance effort at Warwick represented a big step forward on that form and there's good reason to think he'll prove capable of further progress, considerably more so than today's main form rival Sunday Bess.
A switch from John Best to William Haggas has already borne fruit once this week in the shape of Agent Archie, who won first time for his new yard at Yarmouth on Tuesday, and today looks a good opportunity for Elspeth's Boy to repeat the trick at Epsom (20:20). He looked a good prospect when making a winning debut at Lingfield in 2009, so much so that he ran in the 2000 Guineas on his next start. That proved too much, but Elspeth's Boy got back on track at a more realistic level later in the year when catching the eye in a couple of handicaps on the polytrack. He does need to prove he can be as effective on turf, but figures on a realistic mark tonight even without accounting for any improvement his new yard might have unlocked.
Like Mungo Park, Silvery Moon is a physically imposing horse who appeals as very much the type to do better with time and he could well reward his connections' patient approach at Doncaster (20:40). Silvery Moon had four goes in maidens at seven furlongs and a mile as a three-year-old in 2010, improving with each start and all the while shaping as if there was still more to offer. On the face of things, he took the first backwards step of his career when fifth in a handicap at Beverley on his reappearance in May, but he shaped a good deal better than the bare result that day, making late inroads from a poor position under mainly a hand ride. Two months on and off the same mark, he is worth backing to deliver on that long-promised potential.

Three selections for Wednesday's action from the Timeform Free Form Website....
We've come up with a trio of low-grade sprint handicappers for Tuesday......
It would be fair to say that today's 1-2-3 has been somewhat of a team affair as I have sought extra impetus in order to start the week on a high, the result of which is the below three selections which, with a bit of luck, should brighten up Monday after the highs of the weekend......
