Naas hosts an excellent card on Sunday.
"Seabass is one of the most progressive chasers in training at the moment and, although the drop back to 2m isn't ideal, he looks the one to beat..."
Timeform provide a runner-by-runner guide to a Grade 2 chase over two miles at Naas on Sunday...
Tranquil Sea is a very smart chaser who won the Grade 2 Clonmel Oil Chase for the second successive year in November. Creditable placed efforts last twice and likely to run his race again.
Saludos was a useful front-running novice in 2010/11, winning a Grade 2 at Navan. Creditable efforts in frame since but still tends to make mistakes. Likely to find a couple too good again.
Seabass is a prominently-ridden sort who continues to progress over fences, readily landing the Leopardstown Chase on latest start. Drop back to 2m a worry but won't get many better chances at this level.
Jigalo is a smooth traveller who has posted several creditable efforts in handicaps since Gowran win last season, but has loads to find in this grade.
Zaarito is a sketchy jumper of fences but a smart performer when getting it right. The one to beat if back to best but hard to know what to expect having beaten only 1 home in valuable handicap hurdle last time.
Gentle Alice is a useful chaser who turned in a career-best effort in a handicap at Gowran last time, winning by 11 lengths under a well-judged ride from this claimer. Minor role is probably most she can hope for.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Seabass
2. Tranquil Sea
3. Zaarito
Timeform Verdict: Seabass is one of the most progressive chasers in training at the moment and, although the drop back to 2m isn't ideal, he looks the one to beat here with both Zaarito and Tranquil Sea having questions to answer at present.
