Three more Timeform SmartPlays for Sunday, with two bets at Huntingdon and one at Sedgefield...
The two-and-a-half-mile trip (14:40, Huntingdon) looks a maximum for Watergate this afternoon but he is Timeform top-rated and he should be able to land the victory in what probably isn't the strongest contest. Watergate has put in some relatively consistent performances in the past few months and there is every reason to believe that he can reproduce that level of form this afternoon. Watergate shaped better than the bare result when second behind Oscar Charlie at Lingfield last time, travelling well for much of the way, and on slightly quicker ground today, he is definitely the one they all have to beat. Paddy Brennan partners the six-year-old, which is an added bonus, and the pair combine to form our SmartPlay of the day.
The majority of runners in the 15:50 at Sedgefeld have question marks over their form, temperament or ability but Toulouse Express looks decent enough value if taking a chance he can reproduce his best form. There is a school of thought that Toulouse Express is a better horse on good ground and those are the conditions he is likely to face this afternoon. Toulouse Express has disappointed on his last two starts on ground softer than good but it may pay to overlook those displays given his performance at Catterick last time. Toulouse Express confirmed himself to be in good order on that occasion and he looks the one worth siding with in a weak affair.
Persian Snow sets the standard in the 16:40 at Huntingdon after a promising second at Sandown last time and he should be able to go one better returning to a more preferable trip. Persian Snow is the Timeform top-rated for the race, considered a fair bit superior to his rivals, and, if reproducing the form he demonstrated last time, he should win. There is a chance that Persian Snow is even capable of surpassing the form he demonstrated in the Sandown event and that makes him an even more attractive back prospect at the current prices.
