Cracovia's dire season shows no sign of improving as the finish approaches
Jonno Turner is mixing the Champions League with the Polish Ekstraklasa for today's picks...
I woke up this morning, opened the curtains, only to see snow covering everything. Unbelievable! They say that Eskimos have over 100 words for snow, but I suppose they have to, otherwise playing I Spy would be rubbish. Anyway, that's nothing. I went on a dating website the other day, and I reckon that women have over 1000 words for fat.
A successful day yesterday saw two winners from two and we're looking to continue that form today as we take a look at a patchy calendar of football. There's not much to pick from today, but that's not to say that there isn't value out there if you look hard enough.
We're off to Stamford Bridge for our first tip, as Chelsea welcome Benfica to west London, aiming to secure a second win in nine days over the Portuguese side.
Roberto Di Matteo masterminded a 1-0 victory at the Estadio da Luz, which has lifted a lot of pressure off the Blues going into this second leg.
Chelsea are unbeaten in nine games on their home patch, and confidence will be high that they can see this tie out and book their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Thirteen goals in their last five games at the Bridge shows the attacking quality in this side, and Di Matteo will know that, realistically, a goal for his side will kill the hopes of Jorge Jesus' side this evening.
Benfica are going great guns domestically, and sit second in the Primeira Liga, just one point behind leaders Porto.
But the Eagles have been patchy away from home, and go into this game having won just one of their last five on the road.
Couple that with the fact that Jesus' side have won just two in nine on their travels in this competition, and it's clear that this tie is Chelsea's to throw away.
The Blues have been in a resurgent mood of late and I can't see their excellent results ending tonight.
Bet 1: Chelsea (HOME) to win @ [1.8]
There's overwhelmed and underwhelmed, but why do people never admit to being just the right amount of whelmed?
Over to Poland for our next pick, as Cracovia host Podbeskidzie B-B in the Estraklasa, looking to arrest a slump which has seen them win just twice in 12 home outings.
Cracovia are the oldest football club in Poland, and perhaps they need some new blood, as they currently prop up the second tier, with a seven-point margin separating them from safety.
Dariusz Pasielka's side are winless in nine going into this one, and their form hasn't been much better than that at any point of this campaign.
The visitors meanwhile sit eighth in the table and have been churning out some decent results on their travels, with just one loss in five on the road.
And boss Robert Kasperczyk will be desperate to take advantage of his opponents' poor home form by securing another three points in this one.
Eight goals in their last five away from Stadion Miejski shows that the visitors are capable of notching a goal or two, and I think that their momentum could see them victorious here.
Bet 2: Podbeskidzie B-B (AWAY) to win @ [2.94]
