Today's Follow The Money Movers come from the meetings at Chepstow and Epsom.
In Chepstow's 14:45 7f Maiden Stakes, Ebble has difted alarmingly in the betting out to 4.216/5 from 2.9015/8.
It is easy to understand why John Gosden's filly is at the head of the market after a promising debut at Thirsk followed by an improved showing when second at Salisbury, but she was well beaten on both occasions and has appeared so far to lack a change of gear in the closing stages so might be better suited by more of a trip, particularly as there is some stamina in her classy pedigree. There is more depth to this field than appears at first glance and she looks best avoided at the current prices.
Later on the card, Alfie Joe has been backed dramatically in to 6.05/1 from an earlier 16.015/1 in the 1m Handicap at 16:25. The money has poured in for this Ron Hodges three-year-old and he looks an interesting contender in this weak contest, lurking at the bottom of the weights and with a 7lb claimer on board. After a modest start to his career the gelding showed improved form when third last time over course and distance on testing ground and punters may be expecting further improvement on today's quicker surface.
Moving to Epsom for the final selection which is Dishy Guru in the 17:15 6f Handicap who has been well supported into 5.24/1 from 9.08/1. Michael Blanshard's gelding drops down in grade here and travelled eye-catchingly well on his last visit to this venue before running out of room inside the last furlong, then showed up well for a long way at Goodwood. Now lower than his last winning mark he looks to have found a good opportunity to register another victory.
