Although gaining few points for originality, we are fairly confident that Tenure can follow up his win at Kempton on Wednesday with further success here. The four-year-old, a half-brother to the smart Dux Scholar and out of the Cheshire Oaks-winning mare Alumni, made two starts for former trainer Sir Michael Stoute, actually making his racecourse debut in what has turned out to be a strong renewal of the Wood Ditton. He disappointed on his next outing but was picked up by Gary Moore and shaped with promise after six months off at Lingfield in January prior to building upon that effort in no uncertain terms when running out a ready winner four days ago. He appeals as being very well treated under a penalty, and is likely to prove most difficult to beat.
Although Sand Grouse and Actonetaketwo are yet to meet each other on the track they are likely to be very closely matched in Lingfield's 16:45, with them both having finished second to Devout on their latest outings. The Marco Botti-trained Sand Grouse put up marginally the better effort of the pair and, with the suspicion being that she is fairly treated when judged the pick of her form, she is narrowly given the verdict with her excellent yard in top form at present.
The final race on Lingfield's card takes place at 17:15, and we fancy the Ed de Giles-trained Greek Islands to trump his eight rivals. The five-year-old plummeted in the weights from a peak handicap mark of 81 right down to 45 mainly owing to a string of pretty poor efforts but he has looked a different horse on his last two starts, which can potentially be attributed to connections' decision to try holding him up. Although he has risen to a mark of 54 he still possesses plenty of handicapping scope and he can prove that point here with the likelihood of a decent pace only enhancing his claims.
