Rebecca Curtis has recently stated that her stable star, Teaforthree, will be aimed at next season's Welsh Grand National, over three miles and five furlongs at Chepstow in December...

Teaforthree demonstrated stamina to be his forte in last month's National Hunt Challenge Cup, defeating Harry the Viking by two lengths in the four mile amateur race at the Cheltenham Festival.

That victory provided Curtis with her first winner at the Cheltenham Festival and it now seems she wants to land her first National prize with the same horse.

The Chepstow course can catch a lot of horses out, especially in mid winter, but Teaforthree has won there twice before, producing his best Timeform rating of 145 on each occasion, and he looks a superb National candidate at this stage.

His front-running style should be perfectly suited to a race of this nature and his jumping, good attitude and willingness to respond to pressure are all key attributes likely to hold him in good stead.

There is also a chance that Teaforthree runs in next season's Aintree National, for which he is currently trading at (36.035/1) on Betfair.

Experienced amateur rider JT McNamara will partner Teaforthree in the Diamond Jubilee National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival next Wednesday.

McNamara is three times a winner at the Cheltenham Festival having partnered Spot Thedifference (2005 Cross Country), Drombeag (2007 Foxhunter) and Rith Dubh (2002 National Hunt Chase), and again appears to hold leading claims in the last-named race, a four-mile contest for amateurs.

Trainer Rebecca Curtis said: "JT's never ridden for me before, but he's a very good jockey and is very experienced around Cheltenham.

"I'm sure he'll be looking forward to it."

Despite having been pulled up in the Feltham Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day, Teaforthree has won two of his last three races in the style of a hardy stayer, recording respective Timeform ratings of 145 and 143 in doing so.

Newport-based Curtis added: "He's in great form and is very well at home.

"AP (McCoy) looked after him very well at Chepstow last time and didn't give him too hard a race, what with Cheltenham in mind.

"The four-miler looks an ideal race for him as we think he stays that trip very well."

Teaforthree is currently trading as the [10.0] third-favourite for March 14's National Hunt Chase, behind only Harry The Viking ([7.4]) and Soll ([8.2]).
