Can we find two winners and a losing lay?

Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Lingfield and Fontwell.

We start at Lingfield where Thundering Home has been on the drift all morning in the 1m4f Claiming Stakes at 14:40, out to [4.9] from [3.25]. Although a winner over the distance last time out, the five-year-old faces a couple of rivals better off on official ratings today, with the Luke Morris-trained Country Road looking particularly well-fancied. The lack of support suggests he will fail to follow up.

We go to Fontwell for our first back where Sea Saffron has supported all the way down from [18.5] in to a current [7.2] in the 2m6f Handicap Chase at 16:30. At first glance this veteran chaser doesn't appear an obvious choice, having been well beaten in his last three starts. However he's been dropped 9lb since his last run, has the assistance of top conditional Brendan Powell in the saddle and is trained by the in-form Susan Gardner, who has two winners and a second from her last four runners. The positive move suggests a return to form is expected.

We stay at the figure-of-eight track for our last selection where there has been significant looking support for the unraced Puffin Billy in the bumper at 17:00, now trading at [2.8] from an early [4.6]. Although a fair amount has to be taken on trust the four-year-old is well-related and hails from the Oliver Sherwood yard, who are profitable to follow in these types of races. The punters appear to be confident he can outwit some more experienced rivals.

Can Azione hurdle his way to victory?

Today's movers come from the meetings at Ffos Las and Folkestone.

We start at Ffos Las and our negative in their Beginners' Chase at 13:15 where Super Directa has drifted out from an early [1.74] to [1.96]. Lucy Wadham's seven-year-old made a reasonable start over the larger obstacles at Fontwell last time out, although he was a well-beaten second to the odds-on favourite. With his main market rival having the better hurdles form and the other two runners not totally out of it Super Directa looks opposable to short odds.

It's off to Folkestone for our next mover where there has been decent money for Hunt Ball whose price has contracted in to [3.95] from [11.0] in the 14:00 contest. This winning pointer has no form of note under rules and comes here after a break off a very low mark. The hope is that his new trainer, who has made a promising start to his career, has brought about an improvement. If the market support is anything to go by he has!

Back to Ffos Las for our final selection where Azione has been very solid at the head of the market in the 14:55 race, having been backed in to [2.18] from 2.64. This one is another to come from an in-form yard and was a winner last time out in a conditional jockeys race which allows her to race off the same mark today. Receiving weight from all but one of her rivals today on ground that suits, Azione should be hard to beat.

Two of our bets go on the artificial surface at Southwell

Today's Follow The Money movers come from the meetings at Sedgefield and Southwell.

We start with the 13:40 maiden at Southwell where Priceless Art has attracted significant support this morning, shortening from [3.6] in to [2.88]. The Alan Swinbank stable has been known to land a gamble or two and they could be on the verge of a successful one here. This gelding has plenty of hurdle and NH flat form in the book, but it's interesting that two of his wins have come in bumpers on this Fibresand surface. With any number of exposed types in opposition it looks like connections have found the ideal race to land the spoils.

Our negative of the day comes in the shape of Riskier in the 15:00 at Sedgefield who has drifted from [4.5] out to [5.8]. It has to be said that owner/trainer John Wade has never enjoyed the greatest of strike rates (8% during his career) and despite this one being placed in two of his last three runs there has to be a doubt as to whether he can improve that. Two decent runs recently are somewhat outweighed by the grey's inconsistency as evidenced by the fact that he has failed to complete in five of his last seven runs. With that in mind it is not a surprise to see such weakness.

Our final selection is back at Southwell where in the 15.40 Kipchak has been backed from [14.0] in to [7.6]. With a record of one win and eight places from 12 runs at the track it is, perhaps, a surprise to see that Conor Dore hasn't raced the gelding here since May. But, given that Kipchak now runs off a mark a pound lower than when last successful, perhaps we should take the hint.
