Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Newbury and Southwell.
We start at Newbury in the 14:35 where Ballyfoy has seen steady support coming in from [20.0] in to [13.0]. He was below his best last season and made his debut for the Gary Moore yard at Fontwell in November. Although last of the finishers that day, he did travel well for a long way before weakening just before the last. He's now been dropped to a tempting mark, and with the course and distance holding no fear, it looks like he's expected to make a much improved effort today.
We move to Southwell for the 14:50 where Chac Du Cadran has seen solid support moving in to [3.9] from [6.0]. Chris Bealby's former point winner won his second race under rules at Towcester in November. He then followed that with an even better effort when chasing home two subsequent winners on his handicap debut last start at Uttoxeter. The firmer ground today looks like it will suit so everything looks in place for a big run today.
Back at Newbury, today's drifter Araucaria has gone from [2.26] out to [3.1] in the 15:10. He was a fairly useful hurdler in Ireland before moving to the Donald McCain stable and suffered a disappointing defeat on his chase debut, when only managing fourth at long odds on. She did improve markedly on that effort last time when third at Catterick, and a repeat of that effort will put her with a big chance. The worry is that she is still yet to win over fences, and given she has already let backers down at short odds, it looks like punters don't want to invest heavily on her until she can be trusted.
