Today's big meeting is at Nottingham, but the best bet is at Beverley
"Corsicanrun’s potential is about so much more than form lines and it would be highly surprising if he didn’t prove to be better than a BHA mark of 75."
We're going across the country in search of a winner or three today...
Nottingham will be the focal point of today's action, with Free Agent making his reappearance in the listed race at 15:50, but we're more interested in the five-furlong minor event staged an hour earlier. There's little doubt that Face The Problem is an interesting contender such was the speed he showed in his juvenile season, but everything about him screams precocity and as such we're willing to take a chance against him with Secret Asset. Jane Chapple-Hyam's gelding finished 2010 in fine form, winning over six furlongs at Lingfield in December, and he has excuses for flopping on both starts so far this year. With some eye-catching turf efforts last season (third in Hackwood Stakes at Newbury) and his effectiveness at the minimum trip proven, not to mention the booking of deposed champion jockey Ryan Moore, there's a solid case for taking Secret Asset against the likely favourite.
Beverley stage an intriguing three-year-old handicap (16:10) which contains a number who look booked for improvement this year. You might have noticed that Richard Fahey has made another blistering start to the turf season, with six winners already since the start of the month, and he saddles a notably well-bred handicap debutant in the shape of Corsicanrun. An understandably expensive half-brother to smart miler Steinbeck, Corsicanrun is already a winner at Beverley, taking a maiden here last September little more than two weeks on from his promising debut at Thirsk. That form hasn't worked out particularly strongly, but Corsicanrun's potential is about so much more than form lines and it would be highly surprising if he didn't prove to be better than a BHA mark of 75.
We round off our tipping at Lingfield, in their five-furlong handicap staged at 16:30. Officially, current favourite Far View is 2 lb well in after finishing runner-up behind Loyal Royal over a furlong further at this course last week. However, we see him as a bit better treated than that, third-placed Thoughtsofstardom- who was running off virtually a career-low mark- solidifying the view that George Baker's charge is still improving. The drop to five furlongs possibly isn't ideal, certainly if his breeding's any guide, but there is a good chance of healthy competition for the lead, and the resulting strong pace should play to Far View's strengths.

With a whole host of races to choose from today it isn't surprising that we've arrived at the mixed bag of a relatively exposed older horses, a seemingly progressive three-year-old and an all-weather debutante, but here's hoping they are three winners nonetheless....
We are off to the beautiful Scottish Borders and Kelso for today's three selections....
Three selections for Sunday's meeting at Doncaster....
