Paul Hanagan has a couple of fancied rides at Beverley, including Superplex in the opener
"Superplex, with champion jockey Paul Hanagan aboard, looks the most promising of those who have run before."
With the first five races at Beverley this afternoon containing between eight and 11 runners, Timeform's Paul Robson reckons it's the ideal meeting for a placepot....
14:00 - A difficult maiden to start, with only three of the contenders having seen a racecourse before today. Superplex, with champion jockey Paul Hanagan aboard, looks the most promising of those who have run before, after finishing a creditable second to a useful Mark Johnston juvenile last time. Johnston himself has a 20% record with his two-year-olds this season (including a winner yesterday) and his newcomer, Fulbright, who is bred to be fast, is also selected.
14:30 - Johnny Hancocks, who has been on the go all winter on the all weather is the most consistent in this lowly seller, but on this uphill sprint course his stamina may be stretched. Therefore, Meandmyshadow is also included after dead-heating over course and distance two outings ago.
15:00 - After finishing placed on five of his last six starts, Clear Ice is certainly placepot material and can't be left out after an encouraging run back on turf at the weekend when, like today, he was out of the weights. Ruth Carr's horses are in tremendous form and her representative Lucky Art, who is himself in great order, will attempt to make all here from the inside stall and make it 2-2 on turf this season.
15:30 - The first race away from the sprint track, and it is a mile and half handicap which has no turf winners in the field. Dance For Livvy who passed the winning post in front last time, albeit on the all-weather at Wolverhampton, really benefited from the step up in trip to a mile and a half and improvement is likely again. That form was franked by one of today's rivals, Freedom Flyer, who won last time out, but he is likely to find Dance for Livvy too good again.
16:00 - A competitive handicap over an extended mile is the feature of the afternoon. Hail Promenader needed every inch of the Pontefract hill to defeat Cono Zur over a mile last time and the stiff Beverley finish will likely bring out another good run. The second that day has gone on to win since, having a couple of today's runners behind him, including Elijah Pepper, who has run very consistently this year.
16:30 - Taqaat ran very green on debut at Wolverhampton at the back end of last season but was beaten only 1 ¾ lengths and is expected to have improved markedly in the interim, his trainer Mark Johnston a master at getting his three-year-olds to progress. Power Punch got stuck in the mud on his final start at Chester last year, but his effort there the time before looks solid and he should be fighting it out with Taqaat, the pair standing out in what looks a very weak three-year-old maiden.

Plenty of racing for a Monday, but Windsor's evening meeting appeals as the most interesting card, and an ideal target for a placepot....
Worcester's first meeting of 2011 has attracted a far bigger turnout than most other National Hunt fixtures in recent weeks and, with only a handful of non-runners at the time of writing, this appeals as a decent card to have a crack at the placepot with....
It was a toss-up between Ascot and Lingfield for today's placepot, but with the twenty-nine runner Victoria Cup at the Berkshire track likely to eat up too many lines, the coin was always going to land on the side of Lingfield.......
