A couple from Leicester and one from Goodwood make up today's selections...
You might not get rich backing Sluggsy Morant at [2.54] this afternoon, but you'll almost certainly guarantee yourself a winner. The in-form Henry Candy sprinter readily made up for a couple of luckless two-year-old efforts when scoring on his reappearance and a 5 lb rise for that won't be stopping his progression today. On paper both York Glory and Palais Glide have plenty to recommend them against our selection, but neither possess the same undoubted potential as Sluggsy and they look to have bumped into one here.
The strong-travelling Diapason has been a shade disappointing since winning right at the start of 2010, but the Tom Dascombe yard are certainly in better form now than they had been for most of that period, so it's worth giving Diapason a chance at [7.6] this afternoon, particularly given he shaped as if his recent return from a break would bring him on and he also has the assistance of Ryan Moore for the first time.
Mountrath hasn't been with Gary Moore long and looks potentially better than ever judged on the ground he made up from the rear when winning at Leicester last week. The front pair pulled six lengths clear that day and, with the return to a mile sure to suit, he'll be tough to beat under a penalty. Admittedly Mountrath did benefit from a strong Ryan Moore ride last time, but George Baker is an able deputy in his absence this afternoon and the change in rider shouldn't detract from his chance.
Recommendations
Back Sluggsy Morant @ [2.54] Leicester 14.40
Back Diapason @ [7.6] Leicester 15.50
Back Mountrath @ [3.8] Goodwood 16.20
