"Mandurah is clearly still ahead of his mark and will relish this sharp five furlongs.."
Three selections for Tuesday's racing from the Timeform Free Form Website.
At Newcastle, Vito Volterra (15.45) appeals at a tempting price. Michael Smith's charge has dropped to an attractive mark and there's a fair chance he could get the run of things under his talented 5 lb claimer Sean Levey. Vito Volterra's reappearance flop at Southwell should be ignored as it could be that he didn't take to fibresand as well as initial impressions suggested, dropping away quickly having made the early running. A return to the pick of last summer's form back on his favoured good to firm ground would see Vito Volterra bang there and at [11.0] he's worth an interest.
Tap Dance Way (16.35) is fancied to land a second course and distance success at Bath. She represents Patrick Chamings, who continued his good start to the season at Windsor yesterday with Treasure Way landing a gamble on her reappearance. That bodes well for the returning Tap Dance Way who progressed nicely in 2010 after a highly encouraging first run, and faces similar conditions to when making all in a fillies' handicap at the track in August. The in-form Jim Crowley takes the ride.
It took just three starts back with Dandy Nicholls for Mandurah (20.30) to resume winning ways and the Ripon victor is fancied to follow up at Catterick this evening. The seven-year-old found plenty to see off a big field a fortnight ago, and while that form is nothing special, Mandurah is clearly still ahead of his mark and will relish this sharp five furlongs. Spirit of Coniston is an obvious danger seeking a fourth course and distance win, but he's gone up 7 lb for his Southwell success and isn't the most consistent these days.
