Nina Carberry, seen here aboard Garde Champetre, can land the opener at Fairyhouse
"Preference is for Jeunopse who has made the frame on her last five completed starts over hurdles and seemed to find two and a half miles a bit beyond her when runner-up in a handicap at Listowel last time."
We are concentrating on the three maiden hurdles at Fairyhouse for our three win bets...
The Carberry clan hold the key to the opening maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse (14:00) as Nina both owns and rides Jeunopse (trained by father Tommy) while her older brother Paul will be on board one of the main dangers in the shape of the Noel Meade-trained Leceile. Preference is for Jeunopse who has made the frame on her last five completed starts over hurdles and seemed to find two and a half miles a bit beyond her when runner-up in a handicap at Listowel last time.
Paul Carberry will be hoping for better luck in race two (14:30), as he takes the ride on the dual bumper winner Dylan Ross. However, he may have to settle for minor honours again as another dual bumper winner, Reizovic, will be very hard to beat on his much-anticipated first start over hurdles. Reizovic came from an almost impossible position to win on debut at Punchestown in February and more than confirmed that promise when slamming a number of previous winners at this track in April. John Kiely has his team in good order at present and Reizovic can take this en route to better things over hurdles.
Indeed, we have decided to go against Paul Carberry again for selection number three, with Pride of The Artic chosen to see off a field that includes Carberry's mount Texas Jack (last season's Goffs Land Rover Bumper winner). Pride of The Artic looked like a nice staying prospect when landing a bumper at Naas in March and wasn't beaten far when third to Frawley in a Navan maiden hurdle last month. That form got a boost when the runner-up, Flycorn, won at Tipperary on Tuesday and the step back up to this trip will suit Peter Fahey's gelding.
