Naas is the venue for today's three SmartPlays.
"Sportsmaster ran better than the distance beaten would suggest in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown last time and should take all the beating on his handicap hurdle debut..."
A small but select card at Naas this afternoon and we have come up with another three win bets...
Sportsmaster ran better than the distance beaten would suggest in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown last time and should take all the beating on his handicap hurdle debut at 14:15. He pulled much too hard for own his good that day and had nothing left in the straight having led over the second last. The likes of Luddsdenene and Idarah should ensure that there is plenty of pace on here and Sportsmaster, who beat Hisaabaat in a maiden over this course and distance in January, is still unexposed over jumps.
Rathlin (14:55) has looked a different proposition since undergoing a breathing operation/being fitted with tongue tie, readily winning both starts at Fairyhouse this year, and can complete his hat-trick in the Nas Na Riogh novice chase at 14:55. A bold-jumping front-runner, Rathlin is seeing out his races much better now than he was earlier in the campaign and makes more appeal at this trip than the Grade 1 winning novice hurdler Shot From The Hip.
Prince De Beauchene did us a good turn yesterday and another Graham Wylie-owned runner that looks to be of strong interest is Downpatrick winner Felix Yonger (15:25). A fairly useful bumper winner when in the care of Howard Johnson, he created a good impression when landing the odds in a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick last time, and remains open to further improvement. His two nearest market rivals Texas Jack and Touch Back both have something to prove having struggled in a similar grade last time and Felix Yonger looks the one with most potential in this Grade 2.
